How Do You Measure Freedom
DimensionL Wellbeing provides the philosophy, methodology and container to enable a person to experience what it truly means to feel and stay well: we call it a return to Wholeness. Our approach keeps LOVE in the center. We are here to guide our clients to the highest expression of themselves. The result being greater well-being for the individual and therefore greater well-being for society. Our way provides the opportunity to function in your fullness with more consistency.
At DimensionL Wellbeing we recognize and honor that multidimensional beings must be met with a potential focused, sustainable, multifaceted approach to Vital Wellbeing. We define Wholeness through the lens of 8 dimensions and when applied with LOVE creates a Vibrant Lifestyle.
Through our offerings and care, we help our clients navigate these issues to support them in becoming their own health advocate and turning on their Inner Light. When these dimensions are in resonance, the more LIGHT a person will exude. This is not a quick fix or another marker of achievement, rather it is a way of living and thriving through connection, education and exploration. True health is found in personal coherence - this is when what one says, believes, feels and acts upon are in alignment.
Our mission is to provide impactful and empowering care which awakens people to their divine design and entanglement to the universe; supporting the activation of their full potential. That is why we created the 8 Dimensions of Wellbeing, which transforms lives and reduces or eliminates suffering.
Today we will explore the Physical + Spiritual Dimensions. I’d like to discuss with you my friends, realizations I have made regarding freedom. I will also dive deeper into some life giving ingredients that we often take for granted. Hopefully we can reconnect with the benefits they offer, including optimal health!
Freedom is a God-given right that man decided to claim dominion over. However, one has to subscribe to this belief to make it true for themselves. At DLW we support you in living in freedom; inside and out.
First, I would like to talk about freedom, a topic that has required a lot of contemplation and effort throughout my life. Sometimes, we have to live through many events to truly grasp what lesson life is offering. Freedom has been something my soul has always yearned for. I had never felt truly free. I had lived my life as a victim to my circumstances in ways I was not quite aware of. I have fantasized, contemplated, and meditated on the idea of freedom and what it looked to me.
One of my major life lessons on freedom was brought to me in the form of a failing body. There is nothing that will stop you in your tracks faster than the inability to move or get out of bed. However, this is not a sob story, because my rock bottom led me to see all of the beauty which had always surrounded me. Life is bittersweet, that acceptance helped me move out of fantasy and into deep appreciation for the highs and the lows.
Something I became quite aware of was the glass ceiling in which we live. America is known as the land of the free and the home of the brave. I think that motto has been replaced with the land of the sick and the home of the media-driven masses.
On a daily basis, how many advertisements do you think you are bombarded with? Have you ever thought of the effects these bombardments may have in influencing your choices? Manipulating you into choices?
Let’s talk food for a minute, shall we? It is my opinion that if a food needs a commercial and primarily appeals to emotions as a selling point, then WATCH OUT. Coke promises a more invigorating life with the purchase of their products, when in reality their products put your optimal health at severe risk. I also find this curious.
Why are the very companies, whose products actually increase your chances of cancer and other illnesses, raising and donating money to cancer research?
Do we see the conflict of interest here?
It is important to understand a basic aspect of scientific research. The outcome of a study can be predetermined by working backwards and controlling the variables. So, let’s make a connection.
Company A chocks their products full of ‘cancer and learning disorder promoting chemicals’, and they also fund research for said dis-eases/imbalances. This leads to the result that the outcome will be in their favor. It is out of integrity but happens all the time...certain information is omitted that would reveal certain elements of the scientific study.
Genetic predisposition has led us to believe that we are doomed to hereditary diseases. However, we know now that 40-60% of our genes are expressed or suppressed as a result of outside influences (ie. our lifestyle choices). Which means, we can actually break the cycle of many inherited diseases. This also implies personal responsibility when it comes to protecting our own health. We have a responsibility to be mindful of all of the chemicals we’re putting on, around, and in our bodies. With this information it becomes easier to recognize false advertising and base our decisions on facts and label reading. (Make sure that you know what you are looking for!)
We can choose to look at the state of our personal and societal health as a train wreck; something that can never be remedied OR we can chose a path of empowered action, with the driving force being love and a commitment to care.
Love brings me to my next topic, the love that we are shown through our basic needs being met. Oxygen and good quality H2O are two elements that we often take for granted. I’m hoping that is because we are not truly connected with the role these play in achieving optimal health. Continue reading to become more involved with these elements in order to live more vibrantly!
Breath. It is easy to read this word without giving much consideration as to the power it holds. The average person inhales up to 20,000 breaths per day and it is the quickest distributed nutrient in the body, entering directly into the bloodstream. Without oxygen, the body will remain alive for only a few short minutes.
So are we taking this basic necessity for granted and has our freedom of breath become a societal concern?
Let me share some statistics with you:
The average person uses only use 20% of their lung capacity which can be due to poor posture and breathing habits- allowing toxins to accumulate in the cells & organs.
Oxygen concentrates in most major cities can be up to 30% below normal ranges. Add to that the pollutants in the air we breathe and the level of oxygen available to us is dramatically reduced.
The quality of our air has drastically declined. Even in our homes we are subjected to more toxins and chemicals than a chemical lab in the early 1900s. Toxins from our cleaning products, air conditioners, etc.
The amount & type of toxins we are subjected to on a daily basis (in our external & internal environments) reduces the quality and quantity of oxygen available to us.
A deprivation of oxygen can lead to more serious health issues such as; an accumulation of toxins in the cells and organs, which can lead to many chronic disease (including cancer).
Did you know that 70% of our elimination of toxins is done through our breath?
This is because oxygen helps burn up toxins in the body. It is also responsible for our ability to speak, metabolize nutrients, heal, think and release stored emotions. Yes, that’s right. Our emotions can become stuck and stored in our organs and cells (as they have memories too). This is another reason why breathwork is a necessary practice on a path to conscious living. Unconsciously, we create breath patterns that usually streamline with our emotions. If we frequently experience stress, our ‘natural’ breath may be short and erratic.
In fact, the average person breathes in less than half of the air that their lungs are capable of. What message are your cells receiving when they are being deprived of oxygen?
Often, the sympathetic nervous system will be activated, alarming our body into the ‘fight or flight’ response. This is not a place that we want to be operating from very often; it slows your metabolism, digestion and can lead to weight gain.
Breath work is one of the most powerful tools for transforming our lives both internally & externally. Breathing from your diaphragm paired with long exhales is a recipe for altering your state of mind and energy levels.
Additional Benefits of Oxygen Satiation
Elimination of toxins and waste
Proper functioning of the immune system
Increased relaxation & reduced stress
Increased endorphins – resulting in elevated emotions
Improves skin tone & blood flow
Better sleep quality
Weight loss
Reduction in migraines and panic attacks
Now, let’s move on to the subject of what you need to know about H2O.
Did you know that your body is made up of between 60-75% water? Because of this, the quality and quantity of ingested water are of such grave importance.
I will touch lightly on the quality of water because this is an entire post within itself. I highly encourage you to read this article about acid rain and its effects. If this article touches you as much as it touched me, I have a discount code to save 15% off their water filtration systems. DANAE15
It is important to understand that the water on our planet has been abused and contaminated. Tap water contains heavy metals, fluoride, chlorine and medications people have flushed down the toilet. Even if you do not drink tap water, it only takes 26 seconds to enter your bloodstream when you are exposed to it in the shower or brushing your teeth. Most dis-eases happen from chronic and repeated exposure.
There are too many articles to count that share studies on the detrimental effects of these substances to human health. Everything from hormone interruption to Alzheimer’s and even cancer. In fact, less than 10% of cancers are genetic, meaning 90% are lifestyle and environment related.
Additionally, drinking too much can be detrimental and dehydration may result in serious health side effects as well as headaches and fatigue. Drinking plenty of water is critical. While individuality should be applied to the amount of water we drink, there is a general rule of thumb as to how much one should consume. That is to measure half of your body weight and drink that amount in ounces of water. For instance, if you weigh 150 lbs, 75 ounces would be a bare minimum that you would want to drink per day.
It is also important to consider our lifestyles when deciding on how much water we should drink.
Below are additional times in which you may want to consume more water!
Hot/humid temperature
High altitude (above 8,200 feet)
High exercise level
Illness of fever, diarrhea, vomiting
Infections of the bladder or urinary tract
Pregnancy/breast feeding
Increased alcohol intake
Phew! I know we have covered so much in this blog and yet we are only skimming the surface of the vast benefits water and oxygen bring to our lives. We didn’t even begin to tap into how these two affect us on more subtle levels; as in the energetic power they hold – more to elaborate on later.
I encourage you to consider that there is so much more than meets the eye and you are capable of living in optimal health. Be mindful of your patterns, are you increasing your well-being or sabotaging your higher good? I believe in your ability to make choices that are aligned with optimal and sustainable wellbeing.
I’m always here for loving guidance.
