Why 8 Dimensions?

At DLW, we embrace a whole-person, whole-life philosophy of health and wellbeing. That means we see health as happening not just in a person’s body, but also in the context of their life experiences, relationships, families and community. Everything is constantly in relation, this is the essence of life.

We are multi-dimensional beings living in a vast, malleable world. And because the conditions of one’s experiences are always changing, our model of wellness recognizes that health is a journey and not a destination. It is a path to personal mastery and transformation, as well as for healing; ourselves and our environments. You become both student and master.

We believe that every individual’s health state is dynamic, flexible, and the product of multiple, intersecting factors, including environments, actions, choices, patterns, perspectives, and more. 

It’s the interplay of genes, lifestyle and environmental triggers that matters most. And that’s why a whole-person, whole-life approach to health and wellbeing makes so much sense. 

There are a many influencing factors and variables within each dimension, and any or all of them may be relevant areas of concern for a person seeking optimal health, personal growth and wellbeing. These dimensions cooperate and entangle in ways which contribute to our overall quality of life. Happiness and vital wellbeing are achieved through bringing these 8 dimensions into harmony.

Impact is multidirectional and can be both passive and active. As you choose with the quality of love, you will be moved to act differently - with more care and reverence for yourself and others.

Each dimension is complete within itself and yet interacts and depends on each additional dimension. One may find themselves going deeper within 1 dimension or incorporating several dimensions at once. Exploring your wellbeing through these dimensions provides a variety of vantage points into the state of your health and how to activate potential. This moves one from fear, lack and limitations and into a state of being that is aware, empowered and engaged with their life. 

Perhaps most important, we also recognize that true health is not about achieving a certain look, metric or lab result. Rather, it’s about experiencing a strong sense of vitality, energy, integrity and resilience — not just in the body, but in heart, mind and soul.
