The Power of Non-Negotiables

At DLW, our vision is to nourish human transformation and our collective growth in order to free us from suffering and change the way we see the world.

A vision requires a plan otherwise it will perish; some aspects will be over emphasized while others completely neglected.

DimensionL Wellbeing highlights 8 dimensions of wellness and when they are all in balance one is happy, healthy and living with great integrity and longevity. All choices are infused with love, as are all of the offerings, experiences and tools shared at DimensionL Wellbeing.

A non-negotiable is something that is ‘not open for modification’. While it is important to have flexibility a strong sense of principles, or moral ground, support one in walking a path to health and wholeness. Our body needs bones for structure just as much as joints are needed for flexibility.

A non-negotiable, or principle, helps create healthy boundaries which supports you in having interdependent relationships rather than codependent ones. This includes with yourself, others and your environment. Why is this important? Codependency pulls on and drains your health, there are varying degrees of victim mentality. An interdependent relationship includes parties who do their work to be healed, whole and integrated. Therefore energy and health is uplifted!

To get your juices flowing, I want to share with you principles that are important to me. Here are my non-negotiables relating to health, life and relationships. Tune into what resonates with you and leave the rest behind. When you follow your interest there will be a sense of flow and ease, which makes change and commitment more integrated.

1. Clean Eating. Nothing artificial. I eat what I want: desserts, meat, etc but I will not negotiate on the quality of food I ingest. Quality and care matters, I deeply understand the impression these things make on my overall wellbeing and environment.

2. Daily prayer and meditation. Praying is asking and meditation is receiving that wisdom. It’s sooo easy to be ‘in this world’ instead of connected to Source. For me, daily devotion is necessary to stay grounded and connected to God. I want to live my life consciously, and with care, and this practice supports me in doing so.

3. Gratitude. I go over at least 5 things I am grateful for each day. By the time I finish, I have listed way more than 5 and I have this amazing, effervescent feeling; much like the giddiness you experience as a child.

4. Freedom. I believe freedom is a God given right, there is no man that can take that away from me, this includes my freedom of choice over my body and how my body temple is cared for. This is not negotiable, I will always be Sovereign.

5. Reciprocity. Energy is not created or destroyed, it is transformed. What is given to me will also be paid forward. Life is living in constant relationship. I want to give back to life the way life so graciously pours out to me.

6. Led by Faith. Faith is an action to me. It is something that carries me along and is beyond logic, space and time. Faith provides me with steadiness, even when life is in constant motion all around me.

7. Compassion. I make it a daily intention to connect with those I come into contact with — to hopefully provide a little sunshine in their day. When I set this intention I am much more likely to hold space for compassion and connection. Without this intention, it may be easier to be overly focused on self.

8. Connection and vulnerability. This is my favorite non-negotiable. Probably because it scares me the most and yet nothing leaves me more fulfilled! I know my mission is to connect on a very large scale. Yet I have let fear of the past, rejection, insecurity, etc hold me back from really stepping into my light. That is why I hold myself to this. I must connect and be vulnerable to truly be authentic. This means staying true to who I am, at all times, without fear and with trust in the power of vulnerability.

9. Integrity I consider integrity how one operates when no one is around. It also means doing all things with love, which is above ego and personality. This is not always easy, but it keeps me centered in love.

10. Curiosity ‘a strong desire to know or learn something.’ To me, being stuck in ‘what you know’ will age someone faster than anything. We live in a world with unlimited potential and soon as one thinks they know everything, they have syphoned off their ability to connect with all possibilities. Even in the Bible there is scripture that says we need to ‘be like children’ in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Curiosity is my translation for that. It keeps us pure, innocent and full of possibility.

I believe an important acceptance of life is that it is cyclic and bittersweet. The trials and tribulations create a beautiful symphony that translates into our life journey. For me, living my life with principle allows me to stay the course with more ease and direction.

There are no accidents my darlings. Our pain is our gain if we choose to see it that way.
