The Power of Imagination
Hi DLW Crew!
Today we will explore the element of Imagination and how it pertains to your wellbeing. Several years ago, when my life was at a painful crossroad, I made a vow. My vow was to God, my life and my service here on Earth. I asked to be guided to tools and resources to help me heal and I promised I would share what I learned with others. No matter how embarrassing or how afraid I might be to share, I made a promise. The cry started as desperation and soon holistic living became my way of being and gift to share with the world.
Courageous. Vulnerable. Radical. Resilient. Compassionate. Conscious.
I was on a Mission that led to the creation of DimensionL Wellbeing.
DLW represents over a decade of education, personal healing and application of what it means to be well; happy + healthy in a sustained way.
At DLW we offer a variety of tools, services, experiences and feedback that are held within eight dimensions. You are a multi-dimensional being so it is only natural that we support you in a multi-dimensional way. At the center of our offerings is Love. Love is the backbone on which all choices can be made and it is the great multiplier; expanding more with its use.
The more I leaned into learning and applying this to my life, the deeper I understood how interconnected all elements of my life were. Nothing is compartmentalized! It all has purpose and is entangled. The quality of my environment directly affected my physical health. My physical health directly affects my emotional and mental wellbeing.
I am not here to offer a miracle cure. I could definitely give you a monthly plan for weight loss, or strength training, or anti-aging. But these are not the ways I feel I can best support your wellness journey.
I am here to provide Truth and Truth does not always come in a pretty package. Sometimes truth lies in duality. The truth being that although things may be mucky, there are infinite ways to become clear again and moving through the muck may just be the path to clarity. I have learned that the habit that will bring you closer to illness and aging is believing you know everything and being stuck in those beliefs. The whole world is in constant motion, even our bodies replace themselves twice a year.
When we define ourselves by career, relationships, religious affiliations, etc; we limit the possibilities of who we are and can be. We have all done this to some degree, defining ourselves by things that come from the outside. The career that you break your back for (while secretly wishing you didn’t have to be there) is suddenly ripped out from under your feet as a result of downsizing; can you see this as a blessing? Can you witness the miracle of Life stepping in to bring greater balance to our Soul?
The more we place emphasis on others, or things, defining us, the harder it is to see change and the unfolding of life as a blessing.
Ultimately this makes you a slave to their reality. Furthermore, we will attract equivocal to what we believe. Any path to ‘enlightenment' requires a letting go of what you think you know so that you can open yourself up to the unlimited possibilities the Universe has to offer.
What we resist, persists so let’s bring to light what we have tried to ignore, repress or suffocate. This is the path to Wholeness!
So why did I start with saying I want to talk about imagination? Because here is where it comes in! The study of Epigenetics proves we have a role in co-creating our lives. Epigenetics is the study of gene expression based on outside influence. This area of science recognizes that 40-60% of our DNA is expressed through our habits, thoughts and lifestyle choices. Quantum Physics shows us that everything is energy and we attract what we put out. Our bodies are literal conduits. It is important to mention that Imagination can be used both positively and negatively. Worry is a negative manifestation of imagination, for example.
Before I continue, here are a few of my favorite quotes about Imagination:
‘This world is but a canvas to our imagination.’
‘Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.’
- Thoreau
‘Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.’
‘There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.’
- Einstein
When I read these quotes they remind me of what I believe about manifestation. What I understand is that all knowledge is approximate. There are always new studies either enhancing or disproving previous ‘knowledge’. The reason this is so can be examined through the eyes of Quantum Physics. Simply put, when we examine, we are interfering at a Quantum Level, we have separated pieces from the whole to arrive at a conclusion. To understand the entirety of anything, we have to observe and even immerse. Knowledge is important and helpful albeit limited.
Science is supporting the theory of the power of our imagination. There are numerous studies which illustrate outcomes related to one’s imagination. For instance, talking to your body before surgery has shown to aid in less anxiety + pain and improved recovery. The whole premise of the placebo effect also plays into the power of imagination.
Thus the power of manifestation and co-creation!
Even with my limited perspective, I place as much value on imagination as I do knowledge. Knowledge is linear. Imagination is Quantum. I can experience radical shifts in my experience through Imagination.
Einstein knew! He said ‘logic is point A to B. Imagination takes you EVERYWHERE’
Quantum leaps my friends! You are no longer bound by obligation! By all heredity! By your current situation! You have CHOICES because you can IMAGINE them.
Imagination is the portal to new realities.
Before you start the strict diet you are detesting or sign up for the gym you aren't quite sure about, how about you step into the Realm of Imagination.
What do you truly desire?
First IMAGINE the type of life you want to live. How do you FEEL in this life? What habits are you happy to include? Who is around you to support you?
If you are only making choices by what is right in front of you, you will continue to experience more of the same. Living in balance means you are a cooperative component with your experience and have a sense of flow. Flow requires a certain amount of attraction because you cannot physically do everything. When we meditate and imagine we radiate our Ideals and attract a similar vibration.
Do not limit yourself to knowledge. Let yourself go there. Imagine. Dream Big. No one ever prospers by playing small.
One way of letting yourself go there is by stepping into your intentions. This may be a ‘chicken or the egg’ type of situation. For some, letting themselves imagine will lead them to greater clarity about their intentions and others it will be the opposite!
Below I have shared a helpful journaling practice to get clear on your specific intentions in all areas of your life.
EVALUATE YOUR CURRENT SITUATION, AND OUTLINE YOUR INTENTIONS.
First, settle into a place of unconditional love and non-judgement. Breath work and stillness can be helpful.
Which area(s) of your life would you most like to improve?
What’s your definition of true health and wellness? Set one intention around health – how do you want to feel?
Are you satisfied in your current relationships? How would it feel if things were different? Write down the most important component of your ideal relationship.
Do you have a nurturing spiritual practice? How might your life change if you did? Write down one way spirituality could help you.
Evaluate your career. Are you just going through the motions? Are you using your inherent skills, while also acquiring new ones? Are you excited to get out of bed every day? Write down one way you could start to create your ideal work situation, or learn to love the one you already have.
Please take your time with this exercise. It may be one you come back to again and again. Allow yourself to get into the details and observe how you feel in imaging them. Try not to allow yourself to get hung up on obstacles…this is a practice in letting go of that!
I would love to hear how this practice serves you. Please feel free to drop a comment below!
