5 Ways to Bend Time

At DLW, the nature of our Wellness Philosophy operates from the interconnectedness of each dimension, to build a lifestyle that supports a community of transformed individuals contributing to the sustainable wellbeing of themselves and the world.

This multidimensional approach to wellbeing can be applied in almost every life experience; as a pathway to optimal living, wellness, self-responsibility, and fulfilling relationships.

Life Management if one of the eight dimensions we explore at DLW. The dimension of Life Management is essential to Wholeness because it provides the ‘seeing to’ of all other dimensions. Life Management provides both the gas and the vehicle to support you in arriving to your wellbeing destination and wildest dreams.

That which is not reflected upon and planned, does not happen.

Managing your life enriches your understanding of what it takes to be sustainable and successful and how to reach your goals incrementally, without being overloaded by details.

Today I share my top tips for bending time…yes I said bending, because my approach to ‘time management’ really translates to focusing on the quality of your choices, which means sometimes you have to spend time to make time. This approach is more quantum, as opposed to linear. It is true that time and space is relative, so maybe it is time to upgrade your idea of what it means to ‘be effective’.

Here are five ways I embody this way of relating to time in my lifestyle….

Meal Prepping

Here is my food routine. Plan the meals I will be having for the week according to my schedule and nutritional needs. Purchase my groceries from the various stores I shop at. Bring it home and bath the fruits & veggies in filtered water and food grade hydrogen peroxide. Chop, dice and put away everything for easy grabs later in the week. I take two days of the week (about 3 hour increments) that I devote to meal prepping. I try to make one extra meal that can be frozen for weeks with more meetings and obligations. I cannot tell you how this has saved my life. I know what is in my food and it is catered to my specific needs and taste buds. Plus, I always add the most important ingredient…Love.

Morning Rituals

This can happen in a variety of ways. I like to call it Intention Setting for your day. My practice involves prayer + meditation, which again happens in a variety of ways. I also drink a glass of water first thing, and always either work out or do some type of self-care activity before starting my day. This is a daily devotion to give myself this time and care to reflect and intend on what I want to bring forth in my day. The more I stay devoted to this practice, the more my life begins to flow. Remember, it is not always about being the ‘best’ at filling your calendar. It is important to the quality of your to show up and remain balanced, as much as possible. Creating this routine before I go out into the world to consume, also helps me stay more deeply connected to my creativity and what matters most. For a moment, consider how much time in a day you spend on things that do not ultimately matter? This may be quite a shocker!

2 for 1’s

While multi-tasking is not suggested during creative endeavors, there is a time and a place. As mentioned earlier this month, we have to become Time Shifters so creating more efficient ways of getting things done is always a plus! I like 2 for 1’s. What do I mean by this? Two activities at once that compliment each other and save time. like oil pulling in the shower. Squats at your desk. Mascara while driving. JUST KIDDING on that last one…that is NOT a safe practice or behavior. Making sure you are paying attention!

Pre-Planning & Color Coding

Planning my week before allows me to move through each day with greater ease because I have a sense of what is to come. Appointments change but creating an outline of your day sets the intention to receive the most of your time. Color coding has also saved my life! I use this in a variety of ways. In my calendar I code different types of appointments or obligations. My friends think I am crazy, but I have three calendars: personal, marketing and cleansing calendars. Each are color coded with appropriate items so that a quick glance is usually all that is needed.

Self Care

I am sure many would argue that this is a time taker. In fact, this is a typical excuse. ‘I have NO time for myself’. The reality is you TAKE NO time for yourself. It is a time waster to wait until your organs give out to pay attention to them. It is a time saver to work compassionately with your bodily needs so that you may save time and enjoy more life. Try 2 for 1’s like oil pulling in the shower. Castor oil packs on your liver while you are reading or working on your computer. Make your life work FOR you.

All of the tools listed here can be extremely helpful in supporting a strong foundation for a DLW Lifestyle. They support you by filling your cup and preparing you for success, because it is very typical that without planning there is no follow through. Since you are multi-dimensional being, a multi-faceted approach is necessary in order to up-level and sustain your health, in all directions. At DLW, the core of our dimensions is Love. When we make choices from a loving space, that love multiplies and quantifies. It provides us with sustained energy to complete the things that are important to us. Love also helps us get back up when we have fallen off track and it reminds us that living a good life doesn’t happen in a straight line.
